Top 10 Must-Have Kitchen Tools

From childhood, I always like to eat food and want to know how they are cooked. I observed my mom and grandma that how they made those delicious dishes. I paid attention to the method they used, how they mixed the ingredients and the equipment they used.

They used different kinds of kitchen tools that are very much essential for cooking. Not every kitchen tool needs on a regular basis. But everyone needs the tools I’m going to talk about in this article… So keep reading!!!

 

1. Knives:

 

If you want to cook you must need knives. Without it, you can’t cut up all your vegetables or meats that you want to cook for you or your family. You need a knife for many purposes while u will be cooking. For that, you need various kinds of knives. So you need to have a set of knives.

 

 

But the most important knife in the kitchen is Chef’s knife. Mainly it is used for chopping but it is versatile and can handle many other things. Other knives you need are a bread knife which is able to cut soft loaves of bread without crushing it, a paring knife for paring the skin of fruits, etc.

 

2. Wooden Spoons:

 

You need a stirring for doing almost everything in the kitchen. And nothing is better to stir with than a wooden spoon.

 

 

You can get any kind of spoon but from the very beginning, wooden spoons are used. It is suitable for non-stick cookware, it doesn’t leave any kind of metallic taste in your food and doesn’t conduct heat. Many chefs are using wooden spoons nowadays so do my grandma.

The good set of wooden spoons are made from bamboo.

 

3. Vegetable peeler:

 

I always saw my mom and grandma to peel some fruits or vegetables with a paring knife. But when the quantity is much more, it takes a long time to peel and also risky. Sometimes many people cut their fingers to peel quickly.

 

 

With a peeler, it gets much easier, quicker, and safer to peel anything you want. It is the most important invention of all kitchen tools. It is designed ergonomically to fit in your hand.

There are various kinds of designs of a peeler. You can choose the one in which you feel comfortable.

 

4. Cutting Board: 

 

You always need to cut fruits or vegetables. And what is better than a cutting board to place the fruit or vegetable for cutting??

So for preparing food you must need a cutting board.

 

 

Kitchen cutting boards are often made of wood or plastic, these two types are commonly used in the kitchen. There are some other types that are made of glass, steel, or marble and these are also easier to clean rather than wooden or plastic but those tend to damage knives due to their hardness.
So it is better to use the wooden or plastic one.

 

5. Kitchen Shears:

 

Kitchen shares are a very useful and versatile tool for a kitchen. You can use it for many purposes. You can use it for opening any packet of cooking products, or bags of vegetables, can cut fish herbs or snip the bone of chicken, and many other things.

 

 

There are various types of kitchen shears and they are also able to be sharpened. So you should get a good quality shear.  Some of them had a bottle opener and nutcracker on the handle. These are very useful.

 

6. Cast Iron Skillets:

 

For getting the best experience of cooking you need cast iron skillets. It doesn’t have any chemical coatings. If you take proper care it will last for decades longer than non-stick cookware. These are heavily constructed and maintain heat much better than other cookware. If u season it with oil or other fat it will give u the same experience like non-stick cookware without any harm.

 

7. Measuring Cups & spoons:

 

For some special recipes, you need to follow the recipe and then you need the measuring cups and spoons. Also for baking anything you need to measure precisely to baked everything perfectly that they should be.

 

 

There are different types of measuring cups those are liquid measuring cups and dry ingredient measuring cups. Liquid measuring cups are usually made of plastic or glass and marking on the side that you can understand the measurement. Dry ingredient measuring cups are usually of different sizes ranging from ¼ of 1 cup to 1 cup usually (like measuring sugar or pulses etc).

Measuring spoons are usually used for measuring ¼ of 1 spoon to 1spoon and made of stainless steel or plastic.

 

8. Mixing Bowls:

 

 

 

When you will be going to mix up the ingredient you want to cook, you need mixing bowls. Mixing bowls are of different sizes. You need multiple sizes of mixing bowl to mix up things for making an entire dinner or lunch without any mess.

Like the other stuff we talk about before, mixing bowls are also made of different things like metal, plastic, glass, and ceramic.

 

9. Whisks:

 

I saw grandma whisk anything with fork like scrambling eggs which is fine for her. But then my mom started using whisks. Before you own one, you won’t get any differences.

 

 

When you use whisks for suppose scrambling eggs, it leaves them smooth and omelets.

There are different kinds of whisks those are normal whisks, flat whisks, ball whisks, and spring whisks. Some are plain metal and some are silicon coated. Silicon coated one is usually used for non-stick cookware.

 

10. Sieve:

 

It’s a very handy tool. It can be used as a spider to scope out vegetables you are blanching, a colander for pasta, and drains for stocks and sauces. So when you will make this type of dishes you need this tool.
